Stuffing Crochet Plushies

·

·

One thing I had a lot of issues with when I first started was stuffing plushies.

The concept seems simple enough, just stuff the poly-oil in until the plushie is full right? No, depending on the type of yarn you use it can be really easy to over stuff causing holes between stitches.

While I generally only use chenille yard which is fluffier and thicker than most worsted weights over stuffing still an issue.

You also do not want to use huge chunks of stuffing at a time. This will cause you pieces to be bumpy and lumpy looking.

The best way I have found to stuff is to take small quarter size pieces (not clumps like a ball ) and add them to the piece. Once you have a good amount in the piece press it into the inner walls to start shaping it. Even it out and then add more chunks to the middle until the piece is firm and solid.

If you are working with a non fluffy yarn I would stop adding stuffing to the middle as soon as you see separation of the stitches.

Hope this helps!
