Popcorn stitch are a great way to create defined round stickies. They are larger than a bobble stitch and great for creating paws, warts, noses, ears, etc.
In the current pattern I am working on, they use popcorn stitches for the paws. The popcorn stitches gives them adorable little toes!
Popcorn stitches are comprises of 2 double crochet increases, a slip stitch and a chain. The popcorn stitch is tricky because you have to remove your hook from the last double crochet and reinsert it into the first.
How to make a Popcorn Stitch:
You need to 2 stitches to work as your base to crochet into. These could be any stitch, but most popcorn stitches are worked into chains or single crochets.
Step 1: In the 1st stitch do a double crochet inc (DCINC)

Step 3: remove your hook from the last double crochet and insert into first double crochet

Step 4: loop the loop from your last double crochet onto the hook and pull through the first crochet (slip stitch)

Step 5: Chain 1 and the popcorn stitch is complete
