You can get patterns every where now – Etsy, google, Pinterest – which is AMAZING! Except that you have to print them and cut them out.
I don’t own a printer (I know who doesn’t own a printer?!) so once I’ve printed my patterns I am afraid to cut them out. I don’t know about the rest of you but I am not the best at cutting a straight line.
Using a stencil allows me to make mistakes and modify patterns to fit my needs.
Stencils made out of parchment paper are easy to handle AND you can heat it up!
The best thing I found it when my pattern is bigger than an 8 1/2 X 11″ paper. You can get a huge roll of parchment paper and make long patterns fit on 1 sheet.
The other benefit of using parchment paper is that you can reuse the pattern over and over. If you stencil gets torn or ripped you can simply re-stencil it as needed.
Hope this trick helps you out!
